Abstract
This research aimed at using Suggestopedia to motivate students’ speaking of seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Karang Baru Kabupaten Aceh Tamiang. Students are not interesting in doing classroom activities. Most of English teachers still do the teaching by traditional learning so that the situation makes students bored and make them less motivated in learning. Based on the problem above, the researcher hopes that a teacher is able to role a play as an innovator of learning. It is a qualitative research by using Classroom Action Research (CAR) and employs two data collection methods, namely: observation and questionnaire. Subject of research was V-H class at SMPN 1 Karang Baru. The teacher is as a researcher and object of research. Data is analyzed by describing the data based on the result of the data which has been collected. The result shows that the students are highly motivated and they feel that they get enough practice as well as theory. Kinds of activities in class are peripheral learning, positive suggestion, choose a new identity, role play, first concert, second concert, and creative adaption. In addition, it was suggested that the teacher should use a variety of techniques to motivate students’ speaking English, such as create a new identity, posters and music, and provide games and or other activities in the lesson.
