Abstract
Speaking is one of important parts in teaching language because it is included in one of four basic language skills. Nevertless, in SMP Negeri 2 Karang Baru, The writer found thet most of students there still get the difffulties in speaking skill. The students feel shy to speak English even in the classroom. They should have an intrinsic motivation in learning. Motivation plays important role in getting success in learning, because with motivation, we can see the students are interested about the lesson or not. The usage of picture media is a way that can be applied in teaching English, especially to increase the intrinsic motivation in speaking skill. In this way, hopefully, the students get a big opportunity to express their own ideas and it can arouse their motivation to speak up in the classroom
