Abstract

This research is aimed at applying the learning model Make a Match at the eighth grade students of SMPN 11 Langsa. The writer wants to know the improvement of students’ achievement in writing by using learning model make a match. The design of this study is a Quasi-experimental, pretest–posttest design. The subjects of this study were students of SMP N 11 Langsa. The writer was conducted at 26 January until 10 February 2016. It was conducted in two classes. Each class consisted of 21 and 22 students. To collect quantitative data, the research conducted test before and after the research implementation. To analyze the quantitative data, the writer used the average scores of the test. The research findings are described in line with the problem statements as follows: make a match to improve student-learning achievement in writing skill. This is proved by the significant increase of the average score of the posttest control class and posttest experiment class. From the data analysis, the result of the calculation of the t- test formula was 6,52 and it was obvious that t-obtained (6,52). The writer can conclude that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) significance level was accepted and consequently null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Moreover, during the teaching learning process using make a match model, the students showed their better attitudes towards the implementation of those models. They were also actively involved in the teaching learning process. Based on the explanation above, it is concluded that the use learning model make a match, improve the student learning achievement in writing.
