Abstract
The objective of the research entitled An Analysis of Moral Value in a novel The Sun Also Rises written by Ernest Hemingway is to identify the moral values in a novel The Sun Also Rises. The limitation of this research is only limited on the moral values which emerge in a novel which is written by Ernest Hemingway. Moral value is one basis on which we make decisions such as right orwrong and good or evil. Moral value is the value which able to give or transmit teaching or message related to behavior. Moral values are one of the toward attitude and behavior such as right or wrong, good or evil. The method which is used in this research is qualitative descriptive. This method is directed to data analysis from the data which is analyzed in this research is moral value in this novel. Then the data is described, so the writer can get the sketch of moral value in this novel. Primary data is used in preparing this study. The primary data is a document or record containing first hand information or original data on a topic. Primary data are data sources refer to certain books. In collecting the data, the writer uses library research because the data are obtained from written materials which are related to the topic. Data analysis in this study is content analysis namely a research technique to draw an inference replicable and data valid with observe to the context. After finishing of the data collection, the writer does the process to analyze the data to increase the understanding about the topic. The following steps are the process to analyze the data are presenting all of the novel of Ernest Hemingway, selected novel which contain moral value, in addition, the writer uses the corpuses to write the novel transcript and analyzes the data and finallydrawing the moral value in the novel.
