Abstract
The aims of this research is to find out the kind of article and to find out the most of article used in the sport news of Jakarta Post. The study findings are expected to be useful for English students especially the students of PBI Zawiyah Cot Kala Langsa, to improve their knowledge about articles are found in English daily newspaper and This study provide more interesting way in studying structure. Besides, this study may help teachers while explaining article. These findings, a lot of examples of articles found in Jakarta Post can give further information about article used. It is also hoped that the findings of the study will provide further information to those interested in similar research related to this study. The data were taken from Jakarta Post article which published on April 2014. The writer chooses the newspaper because Jakarta Post is one of the English newspapers which is published in Indonesia every day. The Population of this research is all sport news on April 2014 and the sample of this research is sport news on April 2014 in editions: (6, 22, 28, 29, 30). To describe the data and to get the most dominant of article, the writer must counting frequency of article in each category from total number of all the data.. This study was conducted by using descriptive statistic and documentary technique is used in collecting data The findings showed that there are three kinds of article are found in The Jakarta Post, namely: The (68, 75%), a (29, 16%), an (2, 08%) From the analysis of article can be found the most dominant article used in the sport news of Jakarta Post. So it conclude that The (68, 75%) is the most dominant article used in The Jakarta.
