Abstract

There were two objectives for this research. The first objectives was to identify difficult encountered by Non-English department students in the listening section ot the TOEFL test. The second objective was to know the strategies used by Non-English department students to solve the strategies used by Nong-English department students to solve the difficulties faced in the TOEFL test of the listening section. this research was a qualitative descriptive research method. The subject of the research consisted of 20 students. In this research, the data were analyzed by (1) Reducing the data, (2) Displaying the data, (3) Drawing conclusin. from the result of the research, the reseacher found the students faced some difficulties in the TOEFL Listening test. They were un familiar topics, unknow words, variuos accent that were used by the speakers, and speed rate of the speakers, unclear sounds. Some students did various startegies to overcome their difficulties, such as joining grub discussions, doing exercises and practicing, and studying hard.
