Abstract
This study explain about the implementation of informal drama technique to improve students’ speaking skill in the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Manyak Payed . This research applies quasi experimental research. The object of the research is two classes of the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Manyak Payed chosen randomly from 119 students of population. The first class is VIII.A as the experiment and the second class is VIII.B as the control group. The data were collected from the score of pre-test and post-test after the treatment. The data tested using t-test formula by comparing the mean score of pre-test and post-test from both classes. The level of significance is set equal or less than 5%. The result of this study shows that t-value 7,5288 is higher than t-table 2,0133 with the degree of freedom (df) of 75 (N1+N2-k= 30+29-2). Therefore, it can be concluded that there is significant difference before and after teaching speaking using informal drama technique. Thus, it can be said that informal drama technique improved the speaking skill of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Manyak Payed.
