Abstract

This thesis discusses about bitter experiences in the novel Where Are the Children? By Mary Higgins Clark, a famous suspense novelist. The witer choose this title because the the writer wants to tell people thet many people face bitter experiences and the can solve those. The problem in this thesis is what are the bitter experiences happened to the main protagonist Nancy Kiernan in Mary Higgins Clark’s Where Are the Children?. The bitter experiences are started from the death of her mother in a car accident in the same night she told her mother that she wants to get married, and her children Peter and Lisa. During the trial, she accused as the murderer of her children and the cause of the fake suicide of Carl Harmon. Then, her children from her second husband Ray Elderedge have been kidnapped. Next, from the information and the investigation that she has done, she draws a conclusion to save her children and finds the fact that it is Carl who created all of her sadness in life.
