Abstract
The title of the research is speaking ability between male and female students (A comparative study of eleventh grade at SMAN 1 Kejuruan Muda Aceh Tamiang). The speaking ability of male and female students is different and many factors influence it. The aim of this research to find out the differences between male and female’s students in speaking ability and to find out the factors influence the difference between male and female’s students in speaking ability. This research was carried out at SMAN 1 Kejuruan Muda. The witer took students in eleventh grade as a population and take 24 students as sample. This research used quantitative descriptive method and the writer administrated observation and test as the instrument of the research. The instruments were used to find out the speaking ability of male and female students. It was started from 21 April to 8 May 20015. In conducting this research, the writer took 24 as sample. The writer used nomogram Harry king to determine sample. Afterward, the result of this research was analyzed by using Borrghas’s formula. The data that was obtained will be presented in tabulating. The result of this research is the average score of male students and female students 74,33. Some factors that influence female students are high anxiety, shyness, and lack of confidence when speaking English because they afraid of making mistakes. Meanwhile male students have low anxiety, lack of confidence when speaking English but they are not afraid of making mistakes when speaking English.
