Abstract

This research aimed to find out (1)The visual media used by English teachers in teaching English to elementary students at MIN 2 Langsa; (2) The teacher experiences in using visual media in teaching English to elementary students at MIN 2 Langsa. The data were conducted on December 2023 of the English teacher of fifth grade students at MIN 2 Langsa. This research used qualitative method with phenomenological approach. The instruments were an observation and interview. The observation was used to observe the teacher`s media of the fifth grade students at MIN 2 Langsa and the interview was distributed to the English teacher to get more information of the teacher`s experience in using visual media. The findings of this research showed that the kinds of media used by the teacher when teaching English were a whiteboard, English textbook, dictionary, poster, picture, game, and other object around. The result of the teacher`s interview that the teacher used visual materials depend on the topic and visual materials make English lesson became simpler and students understood it better.
