Abstract
This study aimed to find out note-taking strategies used by 4th semester students in English Education at IAIN Langsa in a listening class. This research is qualitative method using interview, observation, and documentation. Five students selected to participate in this study to find out what type of note-taking strategy they used. Furthermore, the researcher observed students' activities while in the listening class, followed by analyzing students notes to find out the note-taking strategies used by them. Note-Taking helps them in understanding the English listening material given by the lecturer during the listening class. The results of the study show that students use different note-taking strategies in taking notes during the listening class. The strategies most used by them were Cornell, outlines, and mind mapping strategies.
