Abstract

This research aims to find out whether Dyadic Essay technique improves the students’ writing ability among the tenth grade students of the SMAN 1 Seruway or not. This present research is quasi experimental research by using experimental class and control class. The population are 50 students from two classes. Each class consists of 25 students. the data collection of research only used test. The result of the research indicates that experimental class obtains higher mean score with post test 82, and pre-test 67.4, than control class. The researcher find that mean score of pre-test at control class is 54,68 and post-test 77.72 with the data, t0 is 2.28, at degree of significance 5% is 1.677 and at degree of significance 1% is 2.407. The value of t0 (t observation) is bigger than tt (t table) 1.677 < 2.272 > 2.107. So, the null hypothesis (µ1 = µ2) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (µ1 ≠ µ2) is accepted. The use of Dyadic Essay technique are not only improve the students’ writing ability but it also promotes students’ ideas in writing.
