Abstract

research is the ninth grade students of SMPN 4 Langsa. The writer gave a questionnaire to the students and also interviewed the teacher. A questionnaire was given to one class containing 25 students. The questionnaire consisted of 16 questions. The writer gave a close questionnaire with four possible answer. The writer interviewed the teacher with 5 questions. Based on the results of research that has been done by the writer, students have problems in adjusting sentence patterns, they also have difficulty in finding meanings of words that do not exist in the dictionary and they have problems in translating long English sentences
